Feeling Overdrawn
Share
There are seasons in life—whether we like it or not—when we find ourselves overdrawn. Maybe we’ve said “yes” to too many things, or perhaps unexpected responsibilities have popped up and pulled us in directions we didn’t anticipate. However it happens, it does happen. And when it does, the real question becomes: What do you do when you realize your soul is running on empty?
How do you replenish what’s been spent?
For some, it might be a walk in nature. For others, a much-needed vacation. As for me, restoration often looks like creating without any agenda. No deadlines. No expectations.
With multiple branding commissions on my plate, trying to consistently share content for my art, all while managing a full-time job, it’s easy to feel weighed down by the pressure to always produce for someone else. That’s when I know I’ve crossed the line into feeling overdrawn.
When that moment comes, I intentionally set aside my to-do lists and step away from my meticulously mapped-out schedule. I carve out a day to be alone and simply create. Not for sales. Not for social media. Not for strategy. But for the sake of creating something that makes me feel alive again—something that gives me space to breathe, think, and dream freely.
